Thanks for this discussion. I've been doing the stand-up ham-only machine, wondering what this one was about, and wondering how to get more glute work. By the way, Lyle, I have lower back problems too and in general, don't arch it all the way, at least not under weight. But I haven't done this machine yet, so take it with a grain of salt.

You could say if you're supposed to feel it in the lower back 'under normal circumstances'

Chris: Think about it, without seeing what you exactly did, how can I possibly answer your question?

Lyle,

while doing this exercise today, I felt it somewhat in my lower back. Worth mentioning that I did back squats, 5x5, before doing this one. Still, I could feel it a bit more especially during the last part where the hip is extended. Is this expected or was I doing it wrong? I was going for 5x5 for this exercise as well.
