The final frontier of fat
bookrapid

I've pursued the problem of stubborn body fat for over 10 years. Dan Duchaine's seminal book Bodyopus was my start and I kept going ever since then.

Now a lot of people think that they know what causes stubborn fat. Most of what they have to say on the topic is based on a combination of lore, misunderstood physiology or outright bullshit. Usually it's a combination of all three.

Estrogen is usually blamed for women's lower body fat yet anti-estrogens don't fix the problem. As well, when women get lean, estrogen levels crash. Yet lower body fat doesn't get any easier to lose. Logically, estrogen is not the problem.

Similar arguments can be made for cortisol as THE cause of men's abdominal fat. Yes it contributes but if it were that simple, taking a compound that blocks cortisol would fix the problem. It doesn't, ergo cortisol is not the problem.

When you dig into the topic, you find that stubborn fat is stubborn for a variety of interconnected physiological reasons, some of which are talked about, some of which nobody seems to even be aware of. Of course, I know about them all.

Here's an example, did you know that different areas of fat on the body store different types of fatty acids (saturated vs. unsaturated) and that affects how easily it is to get the fat out during a diet?

Armed with that knowledge, I've been developing protocols to attack stubborn body fat for the 10+ years I've been thinking about the problem. Early approaches were simple, yet effective.

My name is Lyle McDonald. For years I've sought out dieting solutions that worked and I'm known in the industry for producing exactly that. I use a combination of scientific research, personal experience (and experimentation), along with the feedback I've gotten from clients, trainers, and other elite fitness professionals.

Solving the problem of stubborn fat has been a long-term project of mine and the Stubborn Fat Solution represents the culmination of over a decade of work on the problem.

A few years back I developed what has come to be called the Stubborn Fat Protocol (or SFP) which many internet coaches use. When they are being honest, they call it Lyle McDonald's Stubborn Fat Protocol. What most of those folks don't seem to know is that the original protocol has been significantly modified in the last couple of years.

Here's an example of how well the original SFP worked for a bodybuilder I coached after I first developed it.

"As a female contest bodybuilder I am always struggling to get that last bit of fluff off the hips and thighs. SFP is the magic bullet to get it moving.

I have used Lyle’s protocol successfully for four bodybuilding shows and would never consider prepping for a contest without it."

Back in 2007, I started thinking about the original SFP and where I felt it was lacking. I'm always on the lookout for new research or ideas to make the protocol work even better so I sat down and hashed out where I thought the original could be improved. I tweaked it a bit and give the new protocol to some guinea pigs to try (you'll see one of them in a second).

We played with it for a bit, I got more folks to test it so I could get feedback about it and I modified the parameters until it was perfect.

When it was all said and done, I had developed the Stubborn Fat Protocol (2.0), the single most effective approach to stripping stubborn body fat in existence. Outside of my test cases (and the coaches who used it with their athletes to further help me optimize it), nobody knows about it...Until now.

Frankly, I don't have a lot more to tell you. I'd rather show you.

If a picture is worth 1000 words, what do these tell you? This was my first test subject, natural bodybuilder Tommy Jeffers (aka Sporto). He used my protocols (including the SFP2.0) exclusively to prepare for his last competition.

"By using the protocols for stubborn fat loss outlined in this book, I was able for the first time ever to go into a competition with split hamstrings and striated glutes to win my pro card!"

Tommy Jeffers, IFPA Pro Bodybuilder, Mr. Natural Indiana

I want to make it clear that the concepts in this book are not just for competitive bodybuilders. Any lean individual (males should be at 10-12% body fat, females at 15-17% body fat before even considering using the approaches in this book) looking to strip stubborn body fat will benefit from the information and protocols in the Stubborn Fat Solution.

As well, as is always the case with my books, don't think I'm just going to give you the protocols and be done with it. My books always educate and, at 101 pages, the Stubborn Fat Solution will give you more information about fat cells and fat metabolism than you thought there was to know.

The Stubborn Fat Solution is NOT a specific diet. Rather, it describes four distinct protocols (of diet and training, with several optional supplements) that will integrate with your current nutrition and training program to strip off stubborn body fat once and for all.

Please note: while supplements that can help with stubborn fat loss are discussed in the book, NONE are required for the described protocols to work.
