I think that the loaded stretches are less stretching and more of a forced eccentric. I also think it simply contributes to the total volume of the training load.

Lyle, thanks for a very helpful review -- it's nice to hear a little about DC from your perspective.

I was hoping I could get you to say a little more about their "extreme stretching" and what you think of the science behind it -- I've heard it said (e.g., by John Paul Catanzaro http://www.tmuscle.com/readArticle.do?id=459380) that stretches longer than 15 seconds or so can actually be counterproductive (Catanzaro cites muscle hypoxia and even scar tissue growth after 60 sec. or so). At minimum, it doesn't seem like there's much supporting evidence for the idea of long (60-90 sec.) loaded passive stretches doing much good if one's primary goal is muscle gain. What do you think?

kevin: the DC 2-way split is done 3 days per week not 4. dante originally had some people doing it 4 days per week but he soon cut back to 3 days as it was simply too much.

this is a big difference for the biceps tendon (being stressed on 3 non-consecutive days vs 4 times per week)

This is a great system, I have used it myself and experienced good gains on it. One thing that I like better about your "generic bulking routine" is that the biceps are grouped together with the rest of the upper bodyparts. With DC training, it can be a real killer for epicondylitis with the bicep tendons effectively being stressed 4x a week (2x with back work and 2x on legs days with curls etc).
