		<description>I think the question is how much the training determines the body type and the body type determines who pursues the training.  That is, can you take a 200 lb guy and distance run and diet him to look like a 120 lb runner?  I doubt it.  There is a great deal of selection that goes into top level athletes; folks with the right body type are the ones who succeed and continue with the activity.  So there&#039;s a selection bias to some degree: someone without the initial build to succeed at, say, pole vault probably won&#039;t continue doing it.  So the folks you see with a pole vaulters body, almost by definition, are the ones who started out with the right body type.</description>

But also, do you think that if someone was to replicate the training regime of one of these athletes in its entirety, AND create a diet that facilitated training and optimised recovery and performance, would that person then be likely to end up looking like an athlete? Despite not having favourable genetics...

People or coaches that doesn&#039;t give their athletes the rest that they need for their specific sport clearly cannot understand the energy stystems. It should be obvious that a 100m sprinter needs 3-5min to get his/her creatine recovered to be able to preform good again. A world class 100m sprinter will only run a few 100m races in a session. I cannot see the point with completely depleating your creatine phosphate and not let it recover before the next run.</description>
