Sorry, I meant your "Rule #1". What I`m saying is whether one should apply this rule to skill development too.

For example, I train MMA in Japan. Here most guys do little other than free sparring. Now, after years of very slow progress and massive burnout I decided I`d try and do less sparring and more drills and technique work. I was amazed to discover that after just a few weeks techniques I`m now pretty comfortable using techniques I`d been struggling with for years.

I obviously kept training that way, so I guess instinctively I followed the rule. Tried a new training method, saw results in a few weeks and stuck to it. So yeah, I guess that should answer my own question.

Less emphasis on fads and anxiety about alternate arrangements and more adherance to plan is what is needed for about 90% of the population. Just eat a healthy low cal diet. have a decent amount of protein (decent, not huge), eat big salads for satiation and move out of 25% bf to sub 15% (men). And if you are over 25%, don't even worry about the impact on the lifting. Will probabl have no impact, but even if it does, PRIORITIES. Get your fat ass dieted!
