bigjay, one quick suggestion for you - drop some of those meals, make the remaining meals larger, lower the amount of planning monotony involved. There is no benefit to six meals a day over three meals a day, search this site for meal frequency.

I don't do meal plans. Either get a calorie count book or go to fitday.com or calorieking.com and find foods that fit your macros. It's a bigger pain in the short-term but will teach you more in the long-term.

Hello Lyle, I do completely agree with your last point on how much of a hassle it is to set-up meals on the moderate protein/carb/fat diet. I am consuming around 1500 calories a day while my girlfriend is on 1200/day. 6 meals a day for the both of us every 2.5 hours, but the meals become monotonous to say the least. It seems all I am doing is eating meat(Beef, Chicken, and Fish), protein bars, protein shakes(choc. flavor is all we like), and vegetables(minus corn, carrots, and potatoes). I do eat larger amounts of carbs as a post-workout snack within 15 minutes of my 90 minute workouts (60 weight train + 30 cardio), but our actual meals are pretty much meat and vegetable. I know we just started this diet a month ago, but I doubt one or both of us will make it a couple more months on this monotonous diet. Help us, please. We just need a few more suggestions to add into the mix and prevent us from giving up on this diet.

Thanks, Jay

Hi, I just found your website for the first time today. I was an avid participant in your forum online at cyberpump about 10 years ago (time flies!). At that time I bought your Ketogenic diet book and still have it laying around here somewhere. Since then I've graduated High school and college, and thought it was cool to see this place. I've always kept healthy, thin and pretty strong over the years in part because of all the reading I did on cyberpump. I look forward to reading more.
